Although to some extent people accepts the fact that later in life they will earn wrinkles, it will always be hard for most to accept it when it occurs in the early stage. This is why so many measures are made just to prevent wrinkles from destroying the beauty of the skin. No wonder pharmaceutical companies earn millions or even billions in the production of health and beauty related products. Adding to that fact are SPA centres which also are flourishing business of the times.  However, there is really no need to go to these centres if you know the twist and turns of this kind of skin problem, particularly what causes wrinkles.

The Start of Wrinkles

Believe it or not, wrinkles do not start because of age. It starts rather because of the sun. In a nutshell, this is how it works: the sun sheds harmful rays when it is taken too much. It will destroy the collagen in the middle layer of the skin called dermis. These damaged collagens will in turn produce abnormal elastin and once this is accumulated, enzymes are produced.

Supposed to be, the enzymes that are produced (called metalloproteinases) will be in charge of remodelling the damaged collagen but sometimes they do not work. Of course, logically, if you continue to be exposed in the sun, the remodelling of the enzyme will be no much to the breakage of the collagen fibres. What is worse is the fact that these enzymes will even break collagen down thereby causing two factors of collagen break up: the sun and these enzymes. When this phenomenon keeps on repeating itself, then it is the time that wrinkles will appear.

Making Matters Worse

When wrinkles are commenced by the rays of the sun, it can then be worsen by the air where we breathe in. These are called free radical known to be unstable oxygen molecules. Their instability is due to the lack of electrons thereby causing a chain of destruction when it attaches itself to the system of the body, especially the skin. It will naturally need electrons to stabilize itself so in order to get one, he will rod his neighbour and the neighbour molecule will in turn rob the other causing chaos.

Physical effects of free radicals can be seen when the skin gets dull. The skin dries up, the skin tone gets uneven, and eventually, it will result to cracks on the surface and wrinkles from the sun will be supplemented by the wrinkles brought about by free radicals.

As you can see, there seems to be no escape from wrinkles wherever you go. They are present everywhere. If they are present in the morning due to the morning light from the sun, they will still be present in the evening due to the floating free radicals in the air.

It is a good thing however not to lose hope because with the advancement of science and technology, there are ways to fight this skin problem. In short, there are remedies. But you have to research carefully before buying any anti wrinkle cream.
